Well just when you thought things couldn't get more ridiculous they do. Last Friday the Government made a new proposal to the students to try and bring to an end the 12 week long dispute. The response from the student union leaders and spokes persons. ''Its an insult!'' Hang on. What? Your calling it an insult? You bunch of cry baby, want everything for nothing, latte drinking , smart phone carrying, have everything spoon fed to you ASSES! This whole conflict has become nothing more then a joke. AN ABSOLUTE JOKE! You can't possibly be serious in believing that this Province, its people or its leaders are in any way willing to give you anymore freezes. Hey IDIOTS if you indexed to inflation your paying the same rate to go to school as those did in 1968. Did you get that 1968!!!!! So now that we fully understand that your not in any way willing or able to be reasonable lets move on to taking some concrete measures against you.
AVERAGE PERSON TO THE STREETS
First and foremost there are currently over 20 court injunctions against you forcing college and Universities to resume teaching. You see, while you like to call it a strike it is in fact a boycott. The CEGEP'S and Universities are service providers. You don't work for the them. In fact every tax paying member of the community forking over 83% of the cost to send you to school actually works for them. They should be the ones on strike. Fascinating wouldn't it be if every regular tax payer took to the streets and refused to hand over anymore of their taxes for YOUR education. I wonder what you would do then. Would you go march with them? Would you scream at the top of your lungs if you couldn't get into class because the every day citizen was blocking your access, intimidating you, perhaps even becoming violent and destructive. I bet your tune would change then. So now, given the fact we have established that you don't want access to the services CEGEPS and Universities provide you can just NOT PURCHASE THEM. Problem solved! Plus the bonus is you will save more then just the proposed increase, you'll save years of full tuition. WooooHooooo....more money for pizza and beer!
CALCULATORS PLEASE
Can we have a serious discussion about real numbers please? There are approximately 179,000 students boycotting classes. Can someone please provide a calculator to those in the Media and student associations who obviously just love to exaggerate a story. When there is a demonstration at night (as there was every night last week) and 3000 people show up, that means there are 1.67% of those boycotting parading around the streets. Hey....PSSSST.... if you invited 200 people to your party, you know, the one your parents don't know about and 1.67% of the potential participants showed up.....your party was a failure!!!! It seems however that those who make a living selling on air advertising, newspapers and Internet spots can't add because 3000 out of 179,000 isn't a big protest or as they like to call it here a, (Manifestation). It has become obvious that the few seem to be speaking for the many. Although listening to your student leaders its quite clear that they only speak for themselves and their future political or union aspirations. The majority voice has been silent. It also occurred to me that the 98.33% have better things to do....like play xbox, or go out partying. I mean seriously did you actually think that given the choice between a 9pm walk downtown and a party that the walk would win? Well that is of course if you think that a portion of the 1.67% are actually walking in the protest only to get to their favourite bar. Perhaps the student organizers could have open bars at 15 or 20 establishments and protestors could just walk along until they get to their favourite bar and then cut out of the march. It would increase your overall numbers but remember to save the best bar for the last one on your route as this will guarantee you more coverage on LCN TV.
GET BACK TO WORK
All the Grey haired, past reminiscing, hippie wannabe bee professors who support you should be ordered to report for class. If they fail to show up they should be FIRED! If you don't show up for classes YOU FAIL! Don't pass go, don't collect a diploma, just head straight to the nearest fast food restaurant and ask for a job application. Besides all of that the CEGEPS and UNIVERSITIES should go to court and have a, ''distance'' and ''maximum participant'' injunction imposed on you. What does that mean, you say? It means they get an injunction prohibiting you from blocking access to its facility and it establishes a maximum number of people you can have outside those institutions. I kind of like 10 people as a number. If you fail to obey the injunction you get your school skipping asses thrown in jail. You see the government had no problem legislating the crown prosecutors and nurses back to work, hell even the Federal Government blocked an Air Canada strike not once but twice. I think its about time to start treating you exactly like they treat everyone else even if you aren't actually strikers. Ah isn't it pretty imagining what life will be like in the years to come. Maybe you already know and your getting all your protesting in while you can because once you hit the REAL WORLD things aren't so rosy.
POLITICAL PIRANHA'S
You don't have to like the Government in place, In fact they have given almost everyone a reason not to. You cannot however dismiss or ignore the fact that WE the people put them in power. What is grotesque is that during the last 12 weeks we have gotten to see the aspirations and the true value of ALL political leaders. They are like Piranha's. Nothing has helped bring this under the microscope more then the current boycott. It is fascinating to see politicians promenading around town with their little red square pinned to their over priced clothes. Going on every News show that will given them 5 minutes to proclaim the TRAVESTY! It is fascinating to watch as protestors vandalise and intimidate and violate our social laws and these so called ''leaders'' use this protest to their political advantage. There comes a time when social values and law must take the higher road. It must rise above politics and move in a way that brings society forwards not backwards. Madame Marois, Mr. Legault and that nut case from Quebec Solidaire all had an opportunity to rise above it all. Instead they did what every REAL politician does. They looked for blood. It has been a disgusting demonstration almost as sickening as the student leaders demonstration of self serving, aspiration driven actions. These very same people stand infront of the TV at Budget time and demand fiscal responsibility from the Government in power. They along with the talking heads of the media demand ''leadership on all issues'' demand accountability, and good Management. Except when they get a demonstration of these things they scream at the top of their voices INJUSTICE, MIS MANAGEMENT, CORRUPTION. Under these conditions no Government has a hope in hell of improving the situation of the average person. I wonder if the yo-yo's mentioned above think or care about the real people of the community. If they realize that most people have gone beyond the ability to pay, the ability to continue to support the ''everything for nothing'' mentality. I don't think they do. They simply see opportunity and try and capitalize on it. I just hope the majority of people see right through it, exactly how they see through student leaders.
50 CENTS PER DAY
I was watching a news story late last week profiling a gentleman who has worked for 30 years helping those in need at a Montreal food bank. He was explaining that over 2000 families turn to the bank each week to help make ends meet. I wonder if any of you boycotters have given any though at all to what goes on in the rest of the world? Well in fact i am convinced that you have not the slightest idea. Have you given any thought to the fact that every day average people picking up your garbage, washing your clothes, serving your over priced latte, selling you your expensive smart phone, cleaning the streets after your protests, policing your stupidity are the ones who actually suffer the real effects of the economic times we live in. That these very same people work each and every day often for shark like organizations and that they often have little or no recourse to take action against them (ask the people who work for AVEOS Aviation). The rest of the people could take to the streets but they would lose the job they hang onto just to pay their share of 83% of your education. So here you are boycotting and protesting what amounts to a request by the Government to pay 50 cents more per day for a post secondary education that will translate into 1 million dollars more earned in a lifetime then someone with only a High School diploma. Hey Bone heads! Its time for you to pull your head out of your asses! 50 cents a day, ''An insult'', you claim?. SERIOUSLY! You are living in wonderland.

PAS DE CLASSE-NO CLASS
What do you get when you put a bunch of students together in an organization lead by an ass clown like Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois and his spokes person Jeanne Reynolds who refuse to take a concrete stand on violence and vandalism by its members? The answer is you get ''La Classe'' or in more appropriate terms the PAS DE CLASSE or NO CLASS. For those of you who are unaware, Monday proved to be a particularly violent day here in Quebec. It started with the vandalization of 4 ministers offices and one Condo complex which some geniuses mistook for a government building and proceeded to break all the glass of the entrance. This was followed up by the throwing of bags filled with stones and bricks onto the metro tracks bringing 3 lines of the metro to a complete stand still. The day ended on a positive note with someone letting off a smoke grenade in the Berri-UQAM metro station. Heard enough? I have. The metro incidents are the ones that set the most alarming tone. I have family and friends who ride the metro daily and the idea that someone would throw bags onto the tracks and let off a smoke bomb has got me thinking that social justice might soon need to be replaced by civilian justice. I would hate to think of it coming to that. But you just sense its only a matter of time before something really bad happens.
What takes the cake is that the two ass clown representatives of ''La Classe'' had a clear opportunity to strongly denounce the violence and vandalism during a press conference they called to whine to the media that they might be precluded from upcoming discussions with the Minister of Education Line Beauchamp. Instead of taking the high road ''bozo le clown'', Nadeau Dubois had the nerve to tell reporters that it wasn't in his mandate to condemn it. WHAT? Are you joking me you private school (paid by your parents) educated wannabe be union leader? Seriously? you don't have a mandate! I suppose you have a mandate to block students who currently are not on strike from attending class. Students who have court orders allowing them back to class. You have a mandate for that? I bet your cheap ass education you would say yes! You have a mandate to intimidate other students? I bet you would say you do! You have a mandate to take the general public (the ones paying the majority of your education) hostage and to implement intimidation tactics? I bet you would say you do! You know ass clown your starting to sound like a bully. Were you bullied in school? Did someone wipe your face with their peanut butter sandwich? No! Because your acting like a repressed individual taking great joy in your new found power (or lack thereof) in bullying everyone you can. You seem to have a mandate to say to the government, no negotiation without a FREEZE. You have a mandate for that? I bet you do. It seems the only thing you don't have a mandate for is common sense! You and your organization ( and i say that lightly) are a joke. So cry us a river you might not be invited to the meetings. YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE THERE!
Here is the thing ass clowns. In a civil society (which we strive to be but often fail) as a so called, ''leader'' you have a responsibility to go beyond the rhetoric and the smoke. You have a distinct responsibility to take a higher road, to be a leader and to send clear messages to your members. That message is simple. ''We don't accept or agree with the governments decision making or policies, however ALL acts of violence and vandalism are UNACCEPTABLE! Putting the lives of innocent people (who pay 83% of your education bill) at risk will NOT BE TOLERATED! It is not what ''Le Classe'' stands for''. You have failed on all accounts. You have all to clearly demonstrated that you are nothing more then a young, naive punk trying to set the ground work for your future foray into union activism or left wing politics. Your so transparent that we can actually see images of you each morning standing infront of the mirror in your parents expensive home telling yourself how great you are. What power you wield. Sad fact is ass clown your simply a failure. In a few days the Minister will sit down with the two student federations (FECQ) and (FEUQ), and you ''La Classe'' risks being left behind. Yes the 95,000 students you claim to represent will get left out of the discussion all because you can't see past your own ambitions. You are the farthest thing from a leader there is. You point to the lack of leadership in the government but that lack actually falls much closer to home, in fact right into your lap.
This, ''Strike'' (which is a ridiculous word for it) is going to end. Hopefully the Government will take this small example of leadership it has shown (sad after 9 years) and stick to its position. The way it should end is by the Government agreeing to look at cost cutting measures (they can find lots) and ways of increasing availability of loans and bursaries with the student associations. Then setting a deadline for you, your members and all ''Striking'' students to return to school. The deadline should be set with a CRYSTAL CLEAR SET OF CONDITIONS. They are as follows: ''Do not return to school by monday April 23 and your session is OVER! NO prolonging the session, no summer school, no do over, IT'S DONE! Those of you still not in class will FAIL! Did you get that? FAIL! Oh but that's not all leader boy, there is more! Next fall the priority will be given to students in high school applying for CEGEP and CEGEP students who were not on strike applying for University. Once these students are given priority your new applications for acceptance back into CEGEP or University will be considered''. Now wouldn't that cut down on your self indulging mirror time and future aspirations. You would see how fast your name would become only a passing symbol of Quebec radicalism and some, ''past bad crap'' and your 15 minutes of fame would be done. Well of course until you run in the next election for some radical left wing political party or union. This is of course Quebec and we all know how things work around here. Bonne chance mon ami!

STRIKE-OUT
In Baseball you get to swing the bat and miss 3 times. After which you are sent packing back to the dugout. You don't get to go to first base, you don't get to stay out on the field. Nope you lower your head and walk the walk of shame back to the dugout. That's where your at Students, your not going to get to stay at bat, your not going to get to run the bases, your not going to score any points. Nope your 3 swings are DONE! Its time to head back to SCHOOL! BUT WAIT! There is an upside. Fortunately for you you haven't done that much damage to your professional career (hell you don't even have one yet) you'll be able to pull up your britches and get right back at it. Unlike the real world you don't get to strike out all that often before you realize that your value is; how do you say it? EXPIRING. In your case you can get back to class and start again with little or no negative impact on your professional lives from your strike-out. My advice to you is this. ''take it to the bank and run your little asses off fast as you can back to class''. Its one of the only real chances you'll get in this nasty thing called, ''life''.
While I did admire for a very short time your interest and dedication to, ''a cause" it quickly became obvious that most of you (not all) didn't really understand the ''cause'' in fact it was simply a way for you to feel some sense of value in today's society. A way to feel like you were contributing to ''your generations'' process of society. All of you come from a generation of parents who also had lots of, ''causes''. The main one being , ''its someone elses responsibility ''. You come from a generation that forgot what it meant to be, ''PARENTS''. You come from a generation that spent a great deal of time ''shoveling it forward''. Some of you are saying, he means, ''paying it forward''. ''A no!'' That's exactly what i don't mean. Your parents generation decided that it was time for the government to do everything it could to take, ''living within your means'' to a whole new level. Yes girls and boys, massive debt, $5 and then $7 daycare, Tax breaks, tax cuts, little or no investment in infrastructure. It was a time of ''pay for nothing''. The phrase of the times was, ''give me everything and take as little as possible''. There was no concern about who paid for it. This was clear from another phrase of the day, ''someone else will pay for that''. So here we are. Your now on the cusp of moving to that next stage in your life where you go from being not involved in paying to being the primary payee and what do you say. ''FREEZE IT'' thats your phrase of the times and in essence it is exactly that of your parents.
There in lies the problem. Your parents and all other tax paying adults are now footing 83% of the cost of sending you to CEGEP and University. They are the ones who can no longer pay! Not you. In fact your not paying for much at all. In the mean time the past generations find themselves in a famous ''Catch-22''. They didn't want to pay for anything in the past and now are the higest taxed individuals in North America. That plan of theirs really worked out didn't it? If you take Inflation and factored it into your current tuition, the rate you currently pay to go to school is exactly what it was in 1968. Now being smart CEGEP and University students; does that make sense to you? IT DOES? Really? You see thats where you lost my support and most importantly my respect for your ''cause'', for that reason and also that your making those same people paying 83% of your education suffer by your blockades, marches and disruptions. In a certain way its a form of payback to us all. We deserve to pay a certain price for our unwillingness to demand of government a practice which should have seen CEGEP and University tuitions go up slightly each and every year for the last 44 years so the government wouldn't be in the financial predicament it now finds itself. Do you realize that had it increased every year for the last 44 years your tuition would actually be 4 times what it is now. So are you getting a deal? You bet your I-Pad, latte drinking, smart phone texting asses you are. And the kicker is you know it! But just like the generations before you you want it ''FROZEN!'' Your not interested in negotiating, you had the chance and walked away from the table demanding not less then ''A FREEZE''. Now many weeks in to ''the cause'' your crying because the government won't negotiate with you. Hey that train left the station a long long time ago. You now want a dialogue where there is none. Welcome to life; a place where if you throw a tantrum your most likely to find out, YOU LOSE!
Before you get to hating me to much I want you to know this. Your not to blame for all of this, its not your fault. Your the victims of US! If i could I'd send you all a text message, that way I'd be sure you would all get it and read it because God knows there is no other way for you to inform yourselves other then your student associations and your grey and white bearded 60 and 70's loving professors trying to live their past through your current protest. This is what my text would read, ''We are sorry we did this to you, don't do it to your children''. If you want to be pissed at someone be pissed at us, at me, at your parents and in some cases your grand parents, were the ones who let this happen. Were the ones who led you to believe that what we had practiced could go on forever. We were the generation that was scared to be real parents, to do what was right for future generations not what was easy. We set the example and your following us right off the cliff. My advice to you is stop, turn around and make a b-line in the other direction. We are where we are but you don't have to be. You are perfectly positioned to say to all of us, Government included that enough is enough! That a new way of managing must take effect, you are perfectly placed to take the society you are inheriting and make it different, better! You have all the power in your hands. Stop talking ''freeze'' and start taking change, improvement. Start marching for responsible decision making, start marching for a change in ideology a change in practices and management, start talking about a new era. You have a vote, use it! Don't vote against a current governments policy when they are for once taking their responsibility seriously. Vote for who you think can move us collectively forward in a way that no longer makes it acceptable for us to, ''shovel it forward''.
So here we are. The ironic thing about what is happening and what your currently striking for is that you are unlimately going to pay for it one way or another. It would be nice if you paid for it on your terms and not on the past generations terms. Your currently hurting yourselves and that makes no sense. Enough harm has been done to you already by those of us that allowed this financial mess. What is now ideal is for you to lay the ground work for your children to not have to take to the streets because your, while noble ideology only meant more of the same instead of fixing it. Don't repeat our mistakes. Prepare something now so that in 20 years from now you can tell your children how you fought for a better future for them and be proud of it!
FOOTNOTE: For the record i have two children currently in CEGEP and University. I and there mother do the best we can to help them finacially but both of them also work full and part time to pay for their education. Neither of them is on strike!
